The cleaning out of unblogged outfits continues! I wore this outfit numerous times in the waning summer days. It became the perfect go-to outfit for all those body-conscious days and then some - it was concealing, to be sure, but it was also feminine, flattering, and on-trend. It began an obsession for all things floral, in fact.

This Kiyonna top, and I realize I'm sounding like a broken record here, is yet another Gwynnie Bee rental. (However, after wearing it so many times, I found I couldn't part with it and finally just bought it!) When I first received it, I was a bit concerned it skewed too matronly, but pairing it with skinny jeans was really the best way to offset that concern. I think you could wear it with trousers or a skirt and accessorize accordingly, but I loved how fresh skinnies made the print look. (For what it's worth, I also tried the emerald version, but I didn't like it nearly as much. The print really is part of its charm!) Plus, its billowy sleeves and longer length were, as I always say, the perfect complement for close-fitting bottoms.

The great thing about the print is its numerous colors, too. I like the black background as a "winter" floral option, but you can really pull out any color you want to make it seasonally appropriate. Fuschia and kelly green were my pop-of-color du jour for warmer days, but I can absolutely see mustard yellow and darker green options to come.

You know, I've been in the market for new skinnies, but I can't get over how good this older LB pair still looks on me. When I first started wearing skinnies, I swore by Gap's Always Skinny Jean, but no matter how many times I give them a try these days, they don't seem to work as well on me. I blame their uncomfortably low rise (and the ensuing muffin top), so I've just decided to stick to these trusty LB skinnies until I absolutely wear them into the ground (and possibly even shed some weight). Do you guys have any favorite brands for skinnies to recommend?
I really liked my Mossimo skinny jeans. I say "likeD" because they don't fit as well anymore, and unfortunately I was in the largest size.
ReplyDeleteOld Navy Rockstar skinnies always fit...and can be on sale for as little as $19. Awesome to use as a gap to smaller sizes. I also HATE how the Gap always skinny make me look awful when I'm at my heavier sizes.
ReplyDeleteyep, that's totally the issue i'm having the the gap skinnies right now! i've tried a few pairs of the rockstars in their colors - guess i need to check out the regular jeans!
ReplyDeletei've been finding target runs SUPER small, too. have you (or anyone) tried Torrid's skinnies? i keep meaning to get to a store to check them out...
ReplyDeleteHi! I just started reading your blog! I love all your outfits!
ReplyDeleteI just recently bought some Torrid skinnies and I love them! They fit really well!
I love the print on this shirt! So fun!
ReplyDeleteI really am in love with Ci
ReplyDeleteI always find that Torrid fit wider in the waist and smaller in the leg.
ReplyDeleteTorrid skinnies are my go-to brand. In fact, Torrid jeans are my go-to. I think it might be the higher rise, or maybe the stretch, but I never get muffin top with them, and they still stay up. Highly reccomend them!
ReplyDeleteI haven't, however, I thought I'd mention that right now you can get 25% off your entire purchase at Torrid if you purchase a pair of jeans. The coupon code is "25WITHDENIM." The e-mail doesn't give a date for when it ends, just says "Limited time only." I'd try it if money wasn't so tight right now.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Torrid though, I have this dress in red and in black (not listed on their site anymore), and I love it, if you ever need a new dress, I can't speak highly enough:

The material is stretchy so I can still wear it even though I've gained weight. Also, the material is thick so it hides bumps. And of course, the peplum hides my stomach bump. Me in the red version:

I 3rd the Torrid Jeans..love the boyfriend..and the jeggings..
ReplyDeleteThat top will be mine by the end of the week! I am in love with it!
ReplyDeleteenjoy it! i still can't get over how pleasantly surprised I was by it, myself!
ReplyDeleteso much love for torrid! the reviews on the website are endlessly glowing too. i decided to give them a try - with 25% off, I thought what the heck. trying the slim bootcut (I tend to HATE bootcut on me, but we'll see) and the curvy skinny!
ReplyDeletethank you and welcome! definitely gonna give torrid a shot!
ReplyDeletethanks for the tip on the coupon - gonna give them a try!
ReplyDeleteI love JAG Pull on skinnies! I first bought them on Eloquii, wore them out, and then bought another pair from Nordstrom. When the pair I'm wearing right now dies, I will replace with the exact same pair. They might be stretchy, but also hold their shape. I also find the brand runs true-to-size.
